臨近聖誕節，街上都增添了不少聖誕節的氛圍。不少辦公室裡都會藉此機會舉行聖誕節活動，以增進同事之間的關係。那麼，我們該如何用英文向同事作出邀約呢?

在進入正題之前，我們要先搞清楚formal invitation（正式邀請函）與informal invitation（非正式邀請函）的分別。Formal invitation，如要邀請上司或外部機構，用詞就需較莊重得體; Informal invitation，如要邀請同輩，用詞則不必太過拘謹，可以隨意輕鬆一些。

A) Formal invitation

一封正式邀請函，內文應（至少）包括：
1.邀請者
2.受邀者
3.活動詳情（日期，時間，地點，活動內容）
4.邀請原因

注意：在Formal invitation中，不應有縮寫的出現，如I‘d like to…應寫成I would like to…

另一個Formal invitation不同於Informal invitation 的地方就是：Formal invitation有時會有一些額外備註，例如：

。R.S.V.P.（即法文répondez, s'il vous plaît），意指“Please reply.“
。Dress Code（衣著要求）

1. It is my pleasure / I am pleased to invite you to attend…
很高興邀請你參加…

2. You are cordially invited to the party.
誠邀你參加派對。

3. We sincerely hope that you could attend the party.
我們衷心期待你的光臨。

4. Please confirm your participation at your earliest convenience.
請盡早通知你是否能參加。

5. We look forward to seeing you at the event.
我們希望能在活動中見到你。

6. I am longing to see you soon.
期待盡快與你見面。

7. Will you do us a favour by joining our party?
能賞面參加我們的派對嗎？

8. It would be an honour to me if you would accept our invitation.
如你能接受我的邀請，將會是我的榮幸。

9. We should be very pleased if you could honour us with your presence.
如你能親臨，我們將會感到非常榮幸。

Formal invitation sample (開首及結尾)

開首：We are pleased to invite you to be the (position) for the (event) that will be held on (date) at (place).

結尾：We genuinely hope that you would accept our invitation. It would be highly appreciated if you could reply to us by (date). We can make the necessary arrangements for you. We are looking forward to seeing you at the event.
